About the Award

The Janusz A. Zajdel Award is an annual prize in the field of science fiction and fantasy, granted by fans of the genre to the authors of the best Polish literary works. The award is presented in two categories: novel and short story.

Each eligible nominating participant may select between one and five works in each category, published in the previous calendar year. The five works that receive the highest number of votes are placed on the nomination list for the Award. From among these, the participants of Polcon — the Polish National Science Fiction Convention — choose the winners.

To take part in the voting that determines the winners, you don’t need to attend Polcon in person — it’s enough to purchase a supporting membership. You can find more information about Polcon on the website: https://www.facebook.com/Polcon.

Anyone who meets one of the following three conditions may submit nominations: they attended one of the last three Polcons, are a member of a club affiliated with the Polish Fandom Association, or visited the Award’s booth at one of the conventions where it was present. All eligible participants receive one-time authentication codes at the beginning of February, which they can use to submit their nominations via a special online form available on the website until March 16.

Remember, in any given year, one person may nominate no more than 5 novels and 5 short stories!

At the same time, we inform you that submitting nominations constitutes consent to the processing of the sender’s personal data by the Union of Associations „Polish Fandom”, located at 4/28 Maria Konopnicka Street, 12-200 Pisz, under the following conditions. The data allow the Nomination Committee to verify the identity of those nominating works for the Janusz A. Zajdel Award and are not used for any other purpose. They are not shared with third parties and are deleted after the nominated works have been selected. Providing the data is voluntary, and nominators have the right to access, correct, and delete their personal data.
